CRIES OVER POWER CRISIS
The
Corporate Communication Officer of Pentecost University College, Mr. Akesse-Brempong
Evans, together with some students through series of interview poured out their
views concerning the energy crisis hitting Ghana over the past years.
The effects
of the crisis together with the causes and the unstable “load shedding”
timetable are the main subjects of their various views. The Corporate
Communication Officer says, “the energy crisis is disastrous and it is much
shameful for a nation like Ghana to be caught in such a moment in this
century”. He further says, “E.C.G is not the issues, the issue is leadership.
We don’t even know what the real issues are, we hear different causes in the
media and the leaders are not saying the truth”. He included that the power
crisis has really affected the smooth running of the school in terms of finances.
He includes that the funds used to power the generator for long hours could
have been channeled towards the infrastructure development program.
Speaking
with Pent Guide Newspaper, a level 300 student in Commerce department, Joshua
Osei-Ofosu, says that the power crisis limits his plans. He says, “I only have
12 hours out of 48 hours to use the electricity and that has really affected my
studies very much”.
In an
interview, a foreign student, Dotun Fagbiyi, expresses his concern and
suggestion about the issue. He says that the energy supply is very poor and
that he is even unaware of the “load shedding” timetable. He believes strongly
that the cause is from the Akosombo Dam and the government should try to
provide immediate maintenance.
Mr.
Akesse-Brempong says, “If it was in my will, I would suggest all the government
officials resign for new leaders that have fore vision and can think forward to
take over because, there seems to be no remedy for the power crisis”.
